Yorkshire businesses urged to keep abreast of new employment legislation

A Yorkshire law firm is hosting free breakfast seminars to explain the implications of a raft of new rules relating to employment legislation due to come into force in Spring.
hlw Commercial Lawyers is inviting directors, owner-managers and HR consultants to attend the briefings. Seminars will be held from 8.30am to 11.00am on Tuesday 16and Tuesday 23 March at hlw’s Commercial Street offices in Sheffield city centre, with a further one taking place 8.30am to 11.00am on Friday 12March at the Chambers Hotel in Park Place, Leeds.
Led by employment law partners Barry Warne and Joan Pettingill, the seminars will show employers how to accommodate the latest changes to laws governing dismissal and disciplining of employees, compromise agreements and holiday and sickness absence.
The seminars will explore new legislation to watch out for in 2010, in addition to reviewing key cases from 2009, helping employers to avoid costly mistakes which could lead to unnecessary and expensive employment tribunal claims.
Barry Warne explained: “Employment law can be a real minefield and errors in this area of your business can be very expensive to deal with. These seminars will provide employers with a guide to the law and practical advice, to ensure that they are well prepared for the challenges and changes that 2010 will bring.”
The seminars are free of charge and places are limited. Those interested in attending should contact Victoria Robins on 0114 276 5555 or email
