Fast growing Leeds company offers golden handshakes to top sales people

Top sales people making New Year resolutions to change jobs are being offered a major financial incentive to apply to a fast growing Leeds company.
Information technology reseller and office supplies provider Pure Data Solutions (PDS) is offering golden handshakes of up to £3,000 to successful candidates who generate £15,000 profit in their first three months with the organisation.
Founded only two-and-a-half years ago, PDS, based in the Springfield Commercial Centre, Bagley Lane, Farsley, already boasts an annual turnover of about £2.7m. Its clients include British Airways Holidays, motor group JCT 600 and giant American insurer AIG, as well as large public sector organisations and many smaller enterprises.
Managing Director Steve O’Brien said: “The secrets of our success have included deliberately staying small and responsive, providing consistently competitive pricing and delivering the best client service possible. This has enabled us to punch above our weight and compete very effectively with the big players in our sector.
“But another key factor has been employing high quality sales people and providing attractive and innovative incentives for them to succeed in their roles, which are aimed at generating profit, rather than turnover.”
Mr O’Brien said it was by no means unusual for the company’s sales staff, whose earnings had no upper limit, to earn £80,000 to £100,000 a year and receive rewards such as trips to New York for outstanding performance.
He said: “We’re now seeking other high flyers to join this team, selling across our range of hardware, software, office supplies and peripherals. But we’re not just after outstanding performance – the right candidates will also have to fit in with our inclusive, open culture and be real team players.
“We know people who fit the bill may be hard to find, even in the current economic climate, so we’re quite prepared to pay, to attract them.”
The PDS approach has led to a turnover rate among key employees of almost zero. The company currently boasts 14 staff, several of whom have worked with Mr O’Brien for over a decade.
Having amassed more than 60 years’ combined IT experience, the PDS team now provides over 100,000 product lines, including those of top producers Sony, Dell, HP, Microsoft and IBM. These include portable and desktop computers, printers, servers, peripherals, software and consumables. All are covered by manufacturers’ warranties and the company provides next day delivery as standard.
The organisation’s success saw it move last year from a ground floor site in Rawdon, Leeds, to its current spacious, three-storey 5,000 sq ft home. It also recruited several key additions to its team.
